During my long trading career, which includes both daytrading and longer term swing trading, have used several different trading softwares. It includes, but not limited to, Tradestation, Qoutetracker, Sierra Charts, ThinkOrSwim, Ensign and Stockfinder. I can honestly say that Stockfinder by Worden is a truly amazing piece of software.
When I found the software I was blown away. It had all the features I wanted such as scanning, easy “programming”, sectors analysis and so on. This is great for me as I have NEVER been able to find all this in one single trading software before. Tradestation is great but too difficult to “program” rules, Ensign do not group stocks etc,etc.. Stockfinder do everything I want with features that include:
- Group the stocks up in main sectors and sub sectors (Morningstar)
- Ranking of sector vs the market
- Ranking of stock against the sector
- Ranking of stock against market
- Easy drag and drop to create rules.
- For example if you want to scan for stocks that are oversold (using stochastic) in an uptrend (using moving average) you simply drag and drop the indicators in a group and it is done. NO programming at all.
- Another example is to scan for stocks that have gone up 3 days in a row with increased volume. Simply drag and drop. It could not be easier.
6. Easy to customize the indicators, such as color coding when moving average is up sloping or down sloping.
7. Historical daily and intraday stock data is downloaded to the computer so charts load extremely fast when switching between charts.
Another great thing about Stockfinder is the amount of videos on their website. These videos explain very thoroughly the special features and within 2 days you will be mastering this program.
It’s not just the software itself which is very good either as the after care is exceptional too. The customer service is amazing as they are very quick to respond and are genuinely there to help you. Not like when you call some other software vendors who claim it’s your computer that is the reason for the problem and refuse to help you! I have never had better service than at Worden.
There is also a discussion forum on their website. Here you can read about other user’s ideas, post questions regarding specific features or if you have any problems of any sort you can try and resolve them here. The moderators, who are employed by Worden, reply to any queries in a detailed manner and they do it quickly.
I currently use Stockfinder for my longer term trading/investment as it is currently only running on PC (you can run it on VMware Fusion or Parallels). Furthermore, as Stockfinder do not chart futures such as gold and oil I cannot use it for my intraday futures trading but for stock trading this program is the absolute best one out there. There is a reason that Worden have been making trading software for more than 2 decades and received countless rewards for best software and training programs!
